How bonded warehousing works
A Private Bonded Warehouse is a secure facility appointed by the Comptroller of Customs for storing goods without immediate payment of duties and taxes. When raw materials or capital goods are imported, duty is deferred.
If these inputs are used for exports, the deferred duty is exempted entirely. Duty is only payable when finished goods are cleared for the domestic market. This makes bonded warehousing ideal for exporters working with imported inputs.
